This fabric has been sewn by a group of women from Rótova, a town of about 1300 inhabitants, located in the region of La Safor. Organized by the Ajuntament de Ròtova con the occasion of the day against gender violence and as part of its Active Encouragement Plan, convened a group of women to participate in this activity.

The chosen slogan made direct reference to gender violence under the slogan “Not one more victim”. , making a play between the symbol “stop” of the traffic code and the symbol of the woman. The canvas began to be sketched at the municipal market, but due to weather conditions we moved to the municipal multipurpose space.

This activity coincided with one of the most rainy periods in Valencia and the canvas was not exhibited until one year later, in March 2023. Organized as a public event to open the Women’s Week in March 2023, this event was a reunion and tribute to the women who had sewn it, who shared their experience with the public accompanied by Isabel Pérez, Councilor for Children, Training and Integral Education, Inclusive Policies and Equality, and Lluci Juan, who explained the concepts and origin of Brodant la Revolta.

Complete exhibition and involvement in the school, 2024.

In 2024 different teles of Brodant la Revolta were exhibited. Coinciding with the Porrat de Sant Macià and under the slogan “Teixim el porrat” that year the festival combines the tradition linked to different forms of fabric (“boixets”, hook stitch and natural fibers) with contemporary forms of expression. With the messages of Embroidering the Revolt Antonia Paredes, councilor of upbringing, Training and Integral Education, Culture, Inclusive Policies and Equality and Linguistic Promotion, emphasized equality and respect for women in the festive atmosphere. To involve the whole neighborhood of the street where the TVs were exposed, bags with colored ribbons were distributed to hang them from the balconies.

During this time, mediation activities were carried out with the Consell de Xiquetes i Xiquets de Ròtova The children of the municipality express their ideas and contribute solutions from their perspective. Child participation is included in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Article 12 recognizes the “Right of the child to express his or her views in all matters affecting him or her and to have them taken into account”.

Lluci Juan went to the CRA Alfauir-Ròtova to present the project where they participated in a dynamic to understand the project, discovering the different TVs with a blockbuster and walking along the street where the TVs were exposed to read the messages sewn. Their involvement ended up sewing their own cloth with the message “EQUALS EN DRETS”. The exhibition of Brodant la Revolta concluded on March 8 with the exhibition of the letters sewn by the girls and boys in a public event.
