Embroidering the revolt

Square

Brodant la revolta (Embroidering the revolt) is a participatory contemporary art project that consists of taking to the streets to embroider banners with feminist and gender-conscious messages. The activity of embroidery has been traditionally assigned to the female gender, either in the family nucleus -to cover family needs- or in the first paid activities, conditioning education and the place of women in society. But in this case the action of embroidering is done in the public space: markets, squares, parks…

One of the objectives is that from the embroidery activity this project becomes a meeting place for women of different generations so that they can share their concerns. The older women have a great knowledge of embroidery and feel attracted and valued when they see that a group of young people are doing this activity. This invites them to sit down and share their wisdom and interest in what they are embroidering. It is then that the younger ones explain the reason for this activity.

You can be part of Brodant la Revolta in the form of “Embroidery Workshop”, “Exhibition”, and combine them in educational centers with the mediation services.
