According to data from the study "The economic activity of artists in Spain" by Marta Pérez Ibáñez and Isidro López-Aparicio, the annual income of artists for their artistic practice does not exceed €1600/year, while if combined with other jobs, half of them do not reach €8000/year. This means that only a third of the artists can pay their self-employment fees, another third are registered as unemployed and only 1% of the artists have contributed enough to be entitled to a pension.

In 2014 Lluci Juan was part of this reality, and so she combined different jobs with artistic creation, including waitressing. This was the case of the Raspalloc Festival Performativo (Palacio de La Vila, Ontinyent) where Lluci Juan had a double task: as an artist and working serving drinks. The performative action arose from this situation: for every drink he served, he gave his artistic curriculum.

With this action Lluci Juan puts the spotlight on the precariousness in which artists find themselves from his own experience and trajectory.

"I deliver an artistic curriculum supported with precarious jobs. Most of the above-mentioned activities were not remunerated, or were very fairly remunerated. Especially at the beginning of our career, we artists are forced to give away our work, and this fact makes our work precarious and hinders our

career in a sector that is already complicated by itself."

Lucia Juan, 2014.
